Rebecca Smith

BA, PGDipPsych, MPsych (Clinical), MAPS
Rebecca Smith is a clinical psychologist and has completed advanced training in CBT. She has worked in mental health for over 10 years, in a range of settings including community health, primary schools, not-for-profit organisations and private practice.
Rebecca’s therapeutic style is characterised by open, warm and honest conversations, and Rebecca highly values creating a genuine and collaborative working relationship with each client. Rebecca works hard to adapt evidenced-based treatments and strategies to work for each individual, and considers a client’s learning style, life circumstances and preferences when discussing what strategies may be helpful.
Rebecca has experience in providing psychological support and treatment to clients of all ages, and has treated several psychological conditions such as depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, grief and loss, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, and life stage transition issues.
Rebecca has a particular interest in working with clients with neurodiversity such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); especially adults with ADHD. Rebecca has completed additional training in providing evidence-based diagnosis and assessment of ASD and ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults, as well as additional training in providing evidenced-based treatments.
Rebecca works closely with general practitioners, paediatricians, and psychiatrists, and supports clients through the pathway from starting the diagnostic process, learning about themselves and their diagnosis, navigating the NDIS and other support systems, to ongoing interventions aimed to reduce symptoms that impact on wellbeing. Rebecca constantly strives to provide neurodiversity affirming practice.
Rebecca consults from both of our Mentone and Narre Warren offices, and can provide comprehensive ASD and ADHD assessments from both sites.
