Dr Gabrielle Autard-Barry

Clinical Psychologist

BA(Soc. Sci.), Grad Dip, MA, Phd(Clin Psych), MAPS

Gabrielle is a clinical psychologist and has practised as a psychotherapist for 15 years. She holds a doctorate in psychology and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

Her therapy approach is cognitive-behavioural. She offers a practical, outcome-oriented, yet sensitive therapeutic change process for her clients, and she adopts an attitude of realistic optimism throughout the process.

She also practises EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and finds it a considerable advantage when treating post-traumatic anxiety, as well as a large array of other emotional difficulties.

In her sessions, she enjoys good use of imagery and humour in presenting concepts to her clients, helping them to understand why and how the particular therapy techniques proposed will help them to meet their therapy goals. Her interactive sessions encourage her clients to gradually take on greater initiative in achieving these goals.

Gabrielle offers clinical intervention in the following areas and more:

• Depression

• Anxiety and stress (general)

• Panic disorder and Agoraphobia

• Post-traumatic stress disorder

• Specific phobias

• Adjustment to difficult life situations

• Pain management

• Adjustment to physical injury

• Return-to-work

• Obsessive-compulsive disorder

• Low self-esteem

• Relationship difficulties
